Dear tumblr:

NOT SHAKESPEARE (and certainly not Hamlet, Act 2 Sc 2, which stars Polonius, Queen G, Claudius, R&G):

When I saw you I fell in love and you smiled because you knew.

SHAKESPEARE; in fact, Hamlet Act 2 Sc 2:

Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.

Good, glad we sorted that one out.

“There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, // Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”

University strikes again. Looking through past papers for the exam I’m taking in January and this glorious question appeared. Oh god.

Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare
I’m leading a seminar discussion on Julius Caesar this week, which is a wonderful excuse to reread it.

The Haunted Bookshop by Christopher Morley, 1919

Oh goodness, I’ve read like five versions of King Lear this week alone (Shakespeare 1, Shakespeare 2, conflated, Tate, anonymous verse version — it took ages so I’m allowed to boast about it). Clearly there’s no hope for my sudden turn around. I have never read all sorts of other books though, so perhaps there’s a smidgen of hope.
